Getting Started: Group Attendance

Attendance helps you understand who's engaged in groups and gives you an overall engagement picture. The more engaged people are (the more they show up to group), the more likely they'll grow spiritually and relationally.

Read or watch the video below to learn how it all works and how to set it up:

Turn On Attendance

There are a few steps to getting your leaders to take attendance (group admins can take it as well):

1. Click on the gear icon in the top-right nav and click on "ADD ONS"

2. Find the Attendance add-on and click the enable button.

3. Also, toggle on the require group leaders to take attendance. This setting will make sure that reminder emails are sent out when leaders forget to take attendance. If they continue to ignore the emails and not take attendance, the person over them within their span of care will be sent an email notification.

4. Click Save

Here's what taking attendance looks like:

Reminder Emails

You can set it so that your leaders can get up to 3 reminder emails if they fail to take attendance every 3 days. After the 3rd reminder, a staff member (or their coach, if they have one), will get an email notification about the missed attendance.

Reminder Text Messages

Your leaders can opt-in to getting reminders by text.  Learn more about how that works.

Note: Group leaders do not need to have an account in order to take attendance. They can simply take it via the email/text reminders they receive.

Guests to Members

If you have enabled group guests and attendance, then GroupVitals will automatically make a guest a member of a group when they attend it 3 times.

Who Can Take Attendance

People with these roles will receive attendance reminders for their group:
- Group Leader
- Apprentice Leader
- Group Admin

Additionally, account admins can take it for any group. Staff can take it for any group within their campus.
