FAQ: Why can't I find the gear icon?

If you read some documentation that's mentioned clicking on the "gear" icon in the top-right and you don't see it, that means you don't have the right permissions to see it and access the account settings.

In order to see it, you must be an account admin. Contact a current account admin and request that they go to the team settings area and adjust your role to be an "admin."
