FellowshipOne FAQ's
If we change an F1 group type name, what happens to that group type in GroupVitals?
The name change will be reflected in GroupVitals.
Do you sync notes on people and/or groups?
We wish! But, F1's API doesn't allow us to sync this data. 😔
Do inactive F1 profiles sync to GroupVitals?
We sync over inactive people from F1, but we do not sync anyone with the ignore status. It's best we sync over inactive members anyways, in case someone becomes active again—we already have them in GroupVitals and there no data conflicts.
Is there a separate fee to sync GroupVitals and F1?
No there isn't. 🎉
What should we do with groups that we archive in GroupVitals?
The word "archived" will be appended to those groups in F1. So we recommend that you do a search in F1 for groups with that word "archived" in the name and either delete those groups or move them a separate F1 group type that doesn't sync with GroupVitals. Learn more about archiving groups with F1.
Why are new people in GroupVitals not given a sub-status?
If new people are being added into your F1 database from GroupVitals and are not being given the sub-status "New from GroupVitals," that means the sub-status hasn't been setup in your F1 account yet or maybe there's a typo in your F1 account for that status. Once you correctly add the sub-status, all new people entered in via GroupVitals will be given that status, so you can easily identify new folks from GroupVitals in your F1 reports.
Do you sync a person's F1 status or sub-status?
No, we only push a brand new person's status / sub-status when they are added to GroupVitals for the first time.
Can I change a group's F1 group type in GroupVitals?
Not at this time. So if you clone a group in GroupVitals, note that right now, it will carry over the same F1 group type.
If I merge people in GroupVitals, what happens in F1?
Nothing. You will also need to manually merge them in F1. GroupVitals isn't able to sync the merge. Learn more about handling duplicates in F1.
If I merge people in F1, what happens in GroupVitals?
You'll need to merge the two people in GroupVitals before the next nightly sync. Learn more about handling duplicates in F1.
Which F1 email field do you sync for a person?
We sync the preferred email. If a preferred email isn't set then we do a daisy chain to find an email to sync. First, we check the inFellowship login email and if there is one, we will use that. If it is empty, then we check the personal email. If the home email and then we check the personal email.
If a person's email gets changed in GroupVitals, does it get changed in F1?
It depends. The following is how this F1 sync is determined for updating a person’s email.
If on the original sync of a person, the F1 login email was used and was determined by daisy chain (see above), we don’t push the updated value as F1 does not allow us to update the login email on F1.
If the email is either the home or personal, we update those values accordingly on F1.
If the preferred was home, we will update the home or if it was personal, we update the personal.
Now, if the email was set using the daisy chain method, going through each until one wasn’t empty, we will update the email with the new one.
If a new person gets added to GroupVitals with an email, which F1 field gets that email?
When a new personal is added with an email, we will send that email value to the person's personal email field on F1.
If a person has their email updated in F1, does that new email get updated in GroupVitals?
It depends upon if they have an account login with GroupVitals, as that login is their email address.
If the person doesn’t have a GroupVitals user account, then we'll update GroupVitals with the new email during our nightly sync.
If the person has a GroupVitals user account, we will send to the person letting them know of the F1 email change and allow them to manually update the email for GroupVitals.
How do you make sure that updates to people and groups correctly match?
So what our system does is match F1 and GroupVitals ID numbers that we are called a "foreign app key". Whenever we create, read and update we use this ID for matching objects like people or groups to make sure we are committing these actions on the same one on both sides. When doing our nightly sync, we match people names and email to existing people on GV. If those fields match, we assume those people are the same. If you find that GroupVitals is syncing the wrong F1 ID # for someone, then learn more about how to correct that here. We also do this for group names.
What phone numbers do you sync for people?
During our initial and nightly F1 sync, we sync two phone number types: home phone and cell phone. We make no distinction on which one is the preferred one. Whenever one or the other is updated in F1, we pull those changes in our nightly sync. When a person's phone number is updated on GroupVitals, we will push those changes to F1.
Do you sync F1's In-Fellowship Search Categories?
No we do not at this time.
