CCB: Getting Started with Church Community Builder
Here's everything you need to know to gets started with the GroupVitals (GV) and CCB integration.
Important Things to Know First
✅ People profile details from CCB will only sync to GV and not from GV.
That means all changes to someone's personal information must to a person must be made in CCB. Learn more about how we sync people
✅ New people added into GV will sync over to CCB.
Group details (info and roster) will sync between GV to CCB.
However, we recommend all group updates be made in GV. Learn about how we sync groups
✅ CCB Group Types
GV syncs CCB groups based upon their "CCB Group Type."

✅ CCB Membership Types
Before you setup the integration, we strongly recommend you create a new "Membership Type" in your CCB account to be dedicated to assigning to new people that are added in your GV account. This will allow you to easily track which new people records have shown up in your CCB database because they came from GV.
You can name this new CCB Membership Type whatever you want, but common practice is something like "New from GroupVitals."
✅ Importing People
Currently, the GroupVitals team will have you export all people from your CCB database into a .csv file and send that to us. We'll then import them into your GroupVitals account. This makes the setup process much faster and more reliable than using CCB's API to sync thousands of records. Give us 24-48 business hours to get your people imported.
The nightly sync will then keep both systems automatically updated with new and updated people records. We sync over all people with an "active" profile type so that when they sign up for a group or are added to a group in GroupVitals, we can find their records and prevent duplicates.
✅ CCB Campuses
We sync all campuses in your CCB account, which includes all people and groups associated with them. These campuses will appear in your GroupVitals account upon your first-time sync. If you have groups in GroupVitals before you start your first-time sync with CCB, you'll need to update the campus for those groups in GroupVitals after the first time sync has finished. ✅ Nightly CCB Sync
Each night, GV brings over any changes made to a group or person in CCB, including new groups and people that have been made since the previous nightly sync. Learn more about the nightly sync.
✅ Real Time Sync
Any update made to a group, group members or new groups created in GV will be sent to CCB within 2-10 minutes. Any updates made in CCB will sync to GV during the next nightly sync.
✅ CCB API User
You'll want to create a new API user specifically to sync only with GroupVitals. It's important to now use a shared API user in the event that API user is deleted intentionally or accidentally. Here's how to set it up and which API services it will need.
